All districts

Home occupations are permitted by right in the one-family districts (RE, R-1 through R-5) and in manufactured home parks, but not in RM-1 (§ 138-4.300, Table 4; § 138-6.402).

Conditions (§ 138-4.413.A): - The business stays incidental to living in the house. - Traffic stays near normal domestic levels, including deliveries. - At most two non-resident employees. - No signs, other than what is allowed on vehicles (§ 138-10.308). - The activity keeps with the residential character of the neighborhood and creates no nuisance.

Bed and breakfasts are a defined home occupation: at most 4 sleeping rooms and 25 percent of the floor area, stays capped at 14 consecutive days (§ 138-4.413.B). Questionable cases can go to the Zoning Board of Appeals for an annually renewable permit (§ 138-4.413.C).
